The labour movement celebrates World Day for Decent Work

07 October 2020

Today, 7 October is the World Day for Decent Work (#wddw20). The TUAC joins the global labour movement in support for the promotion and effective observance of decent work standards for working people globally.  The central theme for the ITUC is “A New Social Contract for Recovery and Resilience”.

In an OECD context, today’s celebrations is also an opportunity for the TUAC to recall some of our key expectations vis à vis the OECD:

➔ Support the principles of multilateralism and people-centred policy-making;

➔ Be uncompromising on democracy, rule of law, including human rights and labour rights as defined by the ILO, including mechanisms for member states to be held to account for OECD norms and values;

➔ Consolidate the recent “acquis” on inclusive labour market reforms and social dialogue, including the revised Jobs Strategy and recent Employment Outlook reports.
